Me

It's a crazy life and you must be especially nuts to even think about reading of who I am. Ach well. Don't say I didn't tell you so.

Oh the banter!

Story Of My Music

Playing many instruments as a child, Paul was well versed in music theory. He didn't discover the bass untill his teens. When he picked up a bass, his other instruments fell by the wayside. The passion for the low-end instrument was so strong. Straight into a classic rock band learning Led zeppelin and Free basslines was a chore, but pushed Paul to learn the instrument faster than any other he had played before. Playing grade 8 pieces by around 10 months of playing really showed Paul that there might be something to make of playing bass, others thought so to.

He was asked to play for a pantomime that year, he agreed. Paul was sat down infront of Lyric sheets with the chords sketched on them, not a note in sight. Reading charts was new for him but he practiced, learned and got asked back the next year. This learning shaped Pauls technique, causing him to think outside the lines of cover songs and traditional notation. Chord charts left everything so open and Charts are his favourite way of playing music to this day. It was this expertise for chard charts that caused him to get asked to join a production of an educational show for primary schools. Music not being the main part of the show, they needed someone who could get given the basic guidelines and make it work. Pauls first paid gig.

From there, Paul went to music college, joined neumerous bands, started teaching, developed his composition techniques and refined the sloppy aspects of his playing. After college, Paul toured with punk/pop band Tempting Kate and attended sessions with various groups.

Now, Paul's a freelance bassist. Not particularly looking for fame, just recognition. Be it for his playing or composition, both of which are his life. Gigging and practicing with a couple of bands, composing and teaching on the side. That's the way it's going to stay
